Hunting
Gredos ibex is characterized by dark fur and the largest antlers. The antlers are large and annular, with a rough surface and a shape reminiscent of a lyre.
In the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, towards the west, is the Central System, a long mountain range, formed by a series of mountains, among which we find the "Sierra de Gredos", which inspired the name of this subspecies of the Spanish ibex. The Sierra de Gredos is bordered by the Spanish provinces of Salamanca, Cáceres, Ávila, Madrid and Toledo, and the highest altitude of 2,592 meters is in the province of Avila. It is in this long mountain range that we find a number of different areas for hunting the Gredoski ibex. We can find private and public hunting areas, such as the Gredos Hunting Reserve.
The beceite ibex has large and annular antlers that extend laterally like the wings of an airplane, a characteristic feature of this subgroup. There may be other formations in the region.
The Beceite ibex is a subspecies of the most widespread Spanish ibex in the Iberian Peninsula. One of the largest colonies of Spanish ibex is located in the Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite region, a mountain range between the provinces of Tarragona (Catalonia), Teruel (Aragon) and Castellón (Valencia). The region is characterized by a stand of pine, oak, as well as a beech forest. The territories we are going to visit are the cradle of the Spanish ibex in the province of Castellón, where already 28,000 years ago our ancestors practiced hunting as a way of life, as can be seen in the cave paintings of the area.
The Ronda ibex is the smallest of the four species of ibex that we distinguish in this country. The antlers grow upwards in a V-shape and then backwards with a 90-degree spiral rotation.
The Spanish ibex Ronda is found in southern Spain, in the province of Málaga. It is possible to find the Ronda ibex in the Serranía de Ronda, the Sierra de las Nieves and the Sierra de Grazalema. These areas are very diverse with hills, valleys, forests with olive trees, pines and oaks. Morphologically, it is the smallest of the four different ibex species that are distinguished in Spain, and the densities of this subspecies are much lower than those of the Beceite or Gredos ibex, but its hunting is exciting.
The southeastern ibex is characterized by thick, rough antlers with knots that tend to have the shape of semicircles curved backwards.
The southeastern ibex or Sierra Nevada is a very old species in the Iberian Peninsula. The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range in the Andalusia region. It is the highest point of mainland Spain, the third highest in Europe, after the Caucasus and the Alps, Mulhacén at an altitude of 3,478 m above sea level. The southeastern ibex can be found throughout the eastern side of Andalusia in the provinces of Granada, Almeria and Jaén. This fantastic hunt takes place near the majestic city of Granada.
Accommodation and food
We always offer the best accommodation close to the hunting areas, whether they are 4-star hotels or country cottages, we always choose high-quality accommodation to offer our clients the best opportunities during the hunt.
For the hunt of Beceite ibex, we use a private first-class mountain hut that offers comfortable accommodation and is surrounded by the beauty of nature with great service and client care. It has 12 spectacular double rooms adapted for your comfort. It also provides great facilities to enjoy your stay in different ways: an outdoor pool. Barbecue, WIFI service, phone calls, laundry / dry cleaning. The dishes are exclusively prepared by a permanent chef and are all prepared with the best regional products.
We move on to El Parador de Ronda, located in one of the most beautiful and famous areas of Ronda, Puente Nuevo overlooking the deep crevice above the Tajo, where the city is located. The building occupies the Old Town Hall, a neoclassical building with large windows and balconies. Inside, the space is spacious and bright, with sober and elegant décor. Rooms have a private balcony and exceptional mountain views. It also has an outdoor pool, gardens and a terrace. The Parador also has an excellent restaurant specialising in Andalusian cuisine, which predominates seasonal products and local cheeses and meats.
To hunt the southeastern ibex we travel to Granada, accommodation takes place in a luxury hotel and Emblematic palace inspired by the Alhambra itself, the Alhambra Palace Hotel. In this century-old hotel, a pioneer of tourism in Andalusia and Spain, culture, pleasure, elegance and aristocracy coexist. The hotel offers unforgettable views of the romantic city of Granada and the nooks and crannies of the romantic La Alhambra forest. The hotel offers gastronomy and relaxation on its terraces and viewpoints.
Weather and equipment
In general, we can expect pleasant Mediterranean weather, with daytime temperatures around 16 °C, but in the meaning of "there is no bad weather, only a badly dressed hunter", we recommend checking the weather before leaving for the tour and adapting in terms of clothing, both hunting and civilian.
Due to the weather and the nature of the hunt, it is important to have appropriate clothing, sufficiently breathable for the necessary walking. The basis is layers of high-quality functional clothing, as well as sturdy high boots. We hunt game at different distances, so it is important that you are prepared for different shooting situations. However, we recommend calibers with a flatter flight path, especially in the case of shooting at longer distances. The professional escort is equipped with a shooting stick and high-zoom observation equipment (spectators or ultrazoom camera), with which they can perfectly read the game and at the same time use it as an aid in the client's approval of the hunt. We recommend having a comfortable backpack with you where you can carry things for personal use, such as a water bottle or textiles for changing clothes.

Difficulty
For trips marked with this type of difficulty, moderate to moderate demands are placed on the hunter's physical condition. However, they are manageable for everyone who likes smaller challenges. We encounter this degree of difficulty mainly in mountain types of hunting, when hunting is mainly at the foot of slopes or in lower mountain locations.
