Hunt Information
The hunt takes place in the beautiful Tian-Shan mountains at an altitude of 3,000 - 4,000 meters, in locations within the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions, covering a total area of approximately 500,000 hectares. The hunt is usually done by stalking using the HORSEBACK method (from horseback), and in exceptional cases, a drive hunt is organized. In both alternatives, horses are used for transportation, reducing the physical demands of the hunt. We recommend trying horseback riding at home to get at least the basics. Occasionally (August/September), it is necessary to spend one or more nights in provisional camps, so we recommend bringing a quality sleeping bag.
Travel Details
The most ideal and established air connection is via Turkish Airlines with a transfer in Istanbul. The starting point is Vienna Airport. Transporting weapons by the airline is straightforward and all necessary formalities will be handled by our company. At the airport in Bishkek, a vehicle will be ready to transport the group to the base camp. The journey takes approximately 8 hours – depending on the specific location where the hunt will take place.
Health:
Kyrgyzstan is known for its healthy climate. No mandatory vaccinations are required, but we recommend vaccination against hepatitis and tetanus. Consult your doctor before the trip, as the stay and physical exertion at 3,000 - 4,000 meters above sea level could cause health problems. We recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance for covering medical expenses abroad and trip cancellation insurance, which can be arranged directly with us. Also, do not forget to take any medications you regularly use and basic medicines for potential problems such as colds, constipation, stomach flu, headaches, or sleeping pills. The base camps are equipped with everything necessary for first aid and a satellite phone. The hunter must realize that this is a high-altitude hunt, which is quite demanding both physically and mentally. Hunters often have to spend long hours / sometimes 6-10 hours a day in the saddle and face weather challenges. Each hunter must realistically assess their physical and mental condition and thoroughly prepare for this hunt. The horseback riding itself is relatively easy as the horses are well-trained and invaluable helpers in this environment.
Weather
In October and November, daytime temperatures are around 5°C, dropping to -5 to -15°C at night. During the day, if the sun is shining, the cold is not as noticeable, and at night, you sleep in heated cabins. The beginning of the season has more pleasant temperatures, but expect longer horseback rides and overnight stays in fly camps for time efficiency. As with any high-altitude hunt, you must be prepared for all weather changes, whether you choose the beginning of the season or winter. Therefore, warm and waterproof clothing is necessary, including layers, quality shoes with hard soles and Gore-Tex membrane, white cover clothes for winter hunting, high UV factor sunscreen, protective lip balm, and high-altitude sunglasses – dark lenses. For overnight stays outside the base camp, a quality sleeping bag is suitable. A backpack and a sturdy thermos are also useful.
Accommodation and Food
In this area, we have many base camps at our disposal, all sufficiently equipped to make the group feel comfortable. The base camps have generators, plenty of clean drinking water, a satellite phone (for emergency calls), and a sauna/shower. The food is hearty but simple given the conditions.
Trip Program:
- Day: Departure from Vienna to Istanbul, after a layover, departure to Bishkek
- Day: Arrival in Bishkek at night/early morning, transfer to hunting camps, possibly overnight in Bishkek / accommodation and weapon testing
3rd to 7th day: 5 full hunting days. If the desired game is successfully hunted earlier or later, the stay in the camps or Bishkek may be shorter or longer depending on the current situation.
8th day: Transfer to Bishkek (hotel accommodation)
8th to 10th day: Stay in a hotel in Bishkek, excursion to the surroundings, visit to the largest traditional market "Osh Market" in Bishkek. Sauna stay. Waiting for veterinary documents for trophy export.
10th day: Departure and return home
Weapons and Ammunition
Hunting for ibex often requires shooting at longer distances, 200 - 450 meters, so we recommend bringing powerful calibers such as 7mm Rem. Magnum, 8 x 68, 300 Win. Magnum, 338 Magnum, 300 Weatherby Mag., and similar high-powered rounds with a flat ballistic trajectory and sufficient impact energy. As with horseback riding, we recommend practicing long-distance shooting at home. Rifle scopes should have high magnification, at least 12x and above, ideally with a ballistic turret. For observation, lightweight binoculars with high magnification, e.g., 10x42, are ideal, preferably with an integrated rangefinder.
For weapon export, it is necessary to have the weapon registered in an international firearms passport. The hunting weapon must be packed in a secure, lockable case. Ammunition must be transported in a separate lockable case/container. We recommend taking at least 40 rounds of ammunition. Remember, the large luggage should not exceed 23 kg (according to the conditions of the airline) per person and carry-on luggage approx. 7-8 kg (personal items, camera, etc.). Don’t forget to take your international firearms passport and the weapon card. Upon arrival at the destination airport, the partner will take care of importing the weapon.
Itinerary
The hunt itself takes place in the beautiful surroundings of the Tian - Shen mountains at an altitude of 3000 - 4000 m above sea level. , in locations in the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions with a total area of approximately 500,000 hectares. As a rule, it is hunted in the so-called HORSEBACK way (from the saddle of a horse), in exceptional cases, a draft is organized. In both alternatives, horses are used for transportation, which reduces the physical demands of hunting. We recommend that you try the ride at home and learn at least the basics. Sometimes (August/September) it is necessary to stay overnight for one or more nights in makeshift camps, so we recommend packing a quality sleeping bag with you.

Difficulty
It is a challenge for true adventurers. The hunter's physical condition and mental endurance must be at a more than good level. The difficulty is also connected with the length of the trip, which in these cases is sometimes more than 8 days. Do you like adventure and don't you have a problem with a long move in difficult terrain? Do you want to experience the real high mountain hunting or expedition in the real wilderness? So look no further because this hunt is just for you!
