Information
Experience an Unforgettable Black Bear Hunt in the Wilds of British Columbia, Canada. Join us for an unforgettable adventure hunting black bears—also known as baribal—in the untamed wilderness of British Columbia. Our hunting territory spans a vast area with a healthy black bear population, ready for your next big adventure. Guided by experienced professionals, you’ll embark on a thrilling expedition to track down your dream trophy.
The hunting area features breathtaking and diverse landscapes: majestic mountains, crystal-clear lakes, sprawling wetlands, and lush meadows. After landing in the city of Prince George, a local guide will transport you to the Big Creek hunting grounds—a five-hour drive through Williams Lake and pristine backcountry.
Within the territory, you’ll find forest clearings with lush vegetation that attract a wide variety of wildlife. Besides black bears, the area is home to grizzlies, wolves, cougars, coyotes, mule deer, mountain goats, and moose. Our region is renowned for producing trophy-class black bears, some of which may even qualify for record books. Bears come in a stunning range of color phases—from deep black, cinnamon, and brown to blond—up to seven different variations.
While grizzlies cannot be hunted, they are fascinating to observe. In fact, grizzlies often outnumber black bears here, contributing to a natural selection process that results in stronger, larger black bears. Keep in mind that we do not hunt bears with cubs. Wolves, though abundant in the region, are elusive and extremely cautious, making any successful wolf hunt a matter of luck. Therefore, a wolf tag is included in the package—just in case the opportunity arises.

Hunting Information
All predator hunting is conducted during daylight hours, in accordance with local laws, without the use of night vision or thermal optics. The spring bear hunt is based on spot-and-stalk methods across vibrant green pastures. This time of year offers a spectacular setting as nature awakens from winter—grassy fields, blooming flowers, and fresh leaves create a magical hunting atmosphere.
Each day begins early with a hearty breakfast, followed by heading out to track bears. Hunters are divided into pairs, each with a guide, and transported by truck, quad, or buggy depending on the day's plan. Around 10–11 AM, groups return to the lodge for coffee and lunch. In the afternoon, you can enjoy fishing on crystal-clear lakes or take a scenic horseback ride through the wilderness. Before the evening hunt, fresh pastries and coffee are served at the lodge. After the hunt, relax with a delicious dinner, drinks, and a cozy fireside chat—or unwind in the hot tub under the stars.
During the afternoon activities, such as horseback riding or fishing, firearms will be brought along in case of a bear or wolf sighting. Some fishing lakes lie outside the hunting zone. While horses are primarily used for afternoon rides, up to two hunters may hunt on horseback each morning upon request. This region has a very high black bear success rate—up to 100% in recent years.
Weather
In early May, Big Creek weather can be unpredictable, so come prepared. Daytime temperatures typically range from 10 to 20°C (50–68°F), while nighttime temperatures may drop below freezing, often between -5 to 5°C (23–41°F). Sudden weather changes are common. May can bring rain showers and even light snow, especially at higher elevations. While most of the winter snow will be melted in lower areas, snowy conditions are still possible. Warm, waterproof, and layered clothing is highly recommended, along with good hiking or hunting boots. It’s also wise to check the forecast before departure.
Gear & Equipment
Due to changing weather, proper cold-weather clothing is essential, but it should also be breathable for active stalking. A base of high-quality, layered functional clothing and sturdy boots is key. Don't forget a compact backpack with binoculars and mosquito repellent.
To simplify travel, rental rifles (e.g., Tikka, Ruger) are available on site for an additional fee. If you bring your own rifle, ideal calibers include .308 Win and larger (.30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, etc.). Soft-point or semi-jacketed bulletsare recommended. Full metal jacket and plastic-tipped bullets are strictly prohibited.

Difficulty
For trips marked with this type of difficulty, moderate to moderate demands are placed on the hunter's physical condition. However, they are manageable for everyone who likes smaller challenges. We encounter this degree of difficulty mainly in mountain types of hunting, when hunting is mainly at the foot of slopes or in lower mountain locations.
