Hunting Information

Bezoar ibex are hunted in various regions in southern Turkey (Mediterranean coast), in the Taurus Mountains extending from the west to the eastern provinces of Anatolia. However, the specimens in these areas are generally smaller compared to those in the Munzur Mountains in the east. Our hunting area is east of the Munzur range and north of Bingöl city, covering 100,000 hectares. The nearest airport is Elazığ, with a transfer in Istanbul. This area is categorized by Turkish authorities as a "PRIME AREA," denoting premium quality.

 

The Bezoar ibex is one of the most unique members of the ibex family, often considered the most beautiful. Turkey is a sought-after destination for hunters of this subspecies, with a high population and excellent trophy quality, leading to an almost 100% success rate. Turkey, especially the area we hunt, is regarded as the number one destination for hunting Bezoar ibex. The season runs from September to the end of March. The rut occurs from late November to December, and these months, along with January and February, are the best times for hunting. Snowfall in higher elevations can be expected from mid-December. While weather prediction is challenging, temperatures generally range around 7 – 10 °C during the day in November, becoming cooler due to snowfall on the mountain ridges in December and later.

 

Hunters must bring their own weapons to Turkey, and our company handles all the paperwork for transporting weapons. Apart from hunting, there are opportunities for local excursions, including visiting various monuments, exploring Turkish culture, tasting Ottoman cuisine, or experiencing the famous "hammam" baths.

 

The main hunting method involves spotting, assessing the trophy's quality, and then stalking. Some areas are easier compared to others. Older and larger ibexes live in rougher terrain, requiring good physical condition and skills for long-distance shooting (200 - 400 m). However, the hunt can be tailored to the hunter's physical condition or age.
