Rowland Ward
Miscellaneous
Rowland Ward is the oldest trophy recording system, established in 1892 in London. It focuses on big game animals from around the world, especially African and Asian species. The core of the scoring system is the measurement of the trophy’s physical dimensions—skulls, horns, tusks, or antlers. The largest dimension is assessed, without aesthetic evaluation. Trophies must be legally harvested, measured by an independent person, and recorded in the Records of Big Game book. The system is conservative, emphasizing hunting ethics and the preservation of natural balance.
