Lanyard

Hunting terms

A lanyard is a cord or strap used to attach hunting gear, such as calls, knives, or other essential items, to a hunter's body for easy access and to prevent the loss of these items while in the field. Lanyards are often worn around the neck, wrist, or attached to a belt loop, allowing hunters to keep their tools and accessories secure and readily available.

Lanyards are commonly used for carrying hunting calls (like duck or turkey calls), binoculars, rangefinders, knives, or other small items that are frequently used during a hunt. By keeping these items attached to the hunter, a lanyard provides convenience and ensures that important gear is always within reach, whether the hunter is moving, crouching, or climbing.

Made from durable materials such as paracord, nylon, or leather, lanyards are designed to withstand the outdoor conditions hunters face. They come in various lengths and designs, some featuring adjustable features or quick-release mechanisms, allowing the hunter to easily detach the gear when necessary. Using a lanyard enhances a hunter’s efficiency and helps ensure that essential tools are always on hand when needed.
