First Hunt Foundation

Miscellaneous

The First Hunt Foundation (FHF) is a national nonprofit organization committed to preserving America's hunting heritage through mentorship and education. Established in 2015 and headquartered in Kamiah, Idaho, FHF connects experienced volunteer hunters with individuals eager to learn about hunting, many of whom lack access to traditional avenues for acquiring these skills.

FHF's mission is to "Keep the Hunting Heritage Alive" by offering mentor-based programs that provide hands-on experience in hunting and outdoor skills. These programs are designed to instill confidence, self-sufficiency, and a deep appreciation for nature. Mentors undergo rigorous background checks and commit to a Mentor's Creed, ensuring they uphold the highest standards of safety and ethics.

The organization offers various initiatives, including "Share the HERitage," which focuses on introducing women to hunting, and "Connecting Heroes & Hunters," aimed at engaging veterans. Through these programs, FHF not only teaches hunting skills but also fosters community, resilience, and a connection to the outdoors.

With over 1,200 mentors across multiple states, FHF has become one of the largest "boots on the ground" mentoring organizations in the country. Their efforts are supported by partnerships with conservation groups, outdoor brands, and charitable foundations, all working together to ensure that the tradition of hunting continues for future generations.
